Small On Purpose

Every frog starts as an egg, and every River Meadow kid starts here. The Eggs room is our infant and toddler classroom, kept small on purpose so babies are known, held, and talked to by teachers who learn their rhythms instead of a rotating cast of faces. We are a family-owned daycare in Mooresville, and the owners are on site every day, which means the people making decisions about your baby's care are the ones who actually know your baby.

Days built around your baby

In the Eggs room, the schedule bends to the child. Feeding and napping follow each baby's own rhythm, and as babies grow into toddlers, the day gently adds structure: sensory bins, music, stories, and art that actually comes home in the cubby. Classrooms are screen-free, and that includes the grown-ups: our teachers' hands and eyes belong to the children, not to a tablet. So rather than a nonstop photo feed, you get app updates when there's something worth sharing, and the full story face to face at pickup.

Their own outdoors, every day

The Eggs room has its own dedicated outdoor space, separate from the big kids, and the littlest ones use it every day the weather allows. We kept real grass out there on purpose, instead of the turf most centers install, because grass is where babies belong: crawlers feel it under their hands, brand-new walkers fall soft, and everybody cools off in the shade of real trees. There's a mulch play yard for the climbers, a sandbox, water play, and sprinkler days all summer long, plus a community garden the whole school shares. For children this age, outside is the richest classroom there is: new textures, new sounds, and something worth watching in every direction. Fresh air is part of the daily plan here, not a special occasion.

Our Educators

Mrs. Kyna

Lead Teacher

As our lead Eggs teacher, Mrs. Kyna brings 4.5 years of experience working with infants and toddlers to our youngest classroom. She holds a bachelor's degree from Liberty University and has built her career around helping little ones feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.

Mrs. Kyna's own son was the inspiration behind her decision to work with children. She loves how rewarding the work is and especially values knowing that, in some small way, she has made a positive difference in a child's life.

With our youngest learners, so much of the day is about building trust, discovering new things, and celebrating those first little milestones. Mrs. Kyna loves being part of that process and getting to know each child in her care.

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys watching movies, spending time with her family, and taking long drives. She also grew up as one of nine siblings so she has been surrounded by plenty of energy, personalities, and family fun from an early age.

Assistant Teacher

Ms. Leslie

With 16 years of experience as a private nanny and another 8 years working in childcare, Ms. Leslie has spent much of her life caring for and connecting with children. Her experience also includes serving as a Girl Scout Leader and running a children's summer program, giving her plenty of opportunities to create meaningful experiences for children of all ages.

For Ms. Leslie, working with children is rewarding because every day brings something new. She loves watching children grow, celebrating their milestones, and creating a space where they feel safe, loved, and free to be creative.

What she enjoys most about teaching is hearing the children laugh and seeing them smile. She loves building meaningful relationships with the children in her care and helping them grow socially, emotionally, and developmentally.

Outside of River Meadow, Ms. Leslie enjoys spending time with her adult children, hiking in nature, kayaking, swimming, photography, music, art, and discovering new coffee shops.
